Sevilla, here I come

Malaga-002-2.jpg

I'll be leaving the coast this weekend to head to Sevilla with The Mister and His Sister (I had a lot of fun typing that out; I hope you had fun reading it). Those of you who have been to Sevilla - what should we make sure to see/eat/experience?

  1. There is a little hole in the wall bar about 5 minutes walk from the cathedral called La Carboneria that does free Flamenco shows on a nightly basis. It's a fun night out because there are no signs on the outside so finding it is half the adventure. It so happens to be in a pretty residential area and the only way of recognizing it is by finding the double red doors. They are known for their drink known only as "la agua de sevilla" and from what I've been told they are one of the original makers of said "nectar of the gods" lol It is sold in little glass pitchers and tastes like it contains just about everything from a liquor cabinet a splash of pineapple juice and some whipped cream on top. Even if you're not a drinker, if you don't mind the tourists and would like to see a free show it's worth the trip. If I recall correctly Sundays and Weds the pitchers are half price and great for sharing with friends. But the show starts every night around 10.

C/ Levies 18, 41004 Seville, Spain (That;s the address) Basically start at the cathedral bell tower, walk all the way down C/Mateos Gago, right on c/fabiola

  2. Absolutely do not miss the alcázar!! and of course the catedral. Columbus' tomb is in there. and then climb La Giralda for the (exercise) fabulous views of the town. Enjoy!!!

p.s. I don't think there are aqueducts in Sevilla. perhaps the first commenter meant Segovia?

  3. Anonymous - we went and it rocked! You are awesome - thanks for the suggestion.

Tobyo - we took your suggestions too and loved it. And I think you're right about Sevilla/Segovia. That's my mom and I think she was having a blonde moment. It happens.
