Por Su Puesto

It’s a beautiful day in Phoenix. Light clouds, 81 degrees…ahhh. Remind me of this next week when it’s 105.

Ron and I met with our new Spanish tutor last week. She is from Madrid and she’s super friendly and very smart and absolutely formidable. She wiped the floor with us. Her main role for us is conversation partner, only she speaks in this beautiful, sultry, absolutely pure Spanish that gushes forth from her mouth at roughly the speed of light. But we were pleased to realize that while we certainly weren’t catching every word, we understood the gist of each topic, and she was monumentally helpful to us.

Also, last night we watched Love Actually – that’s really a fantastic movie.

Irony? Alive and Well.

On my way home from work today, I saw a big monster truck with a big, painted slogan on the side:

"Note to self: It is illegal to kill stupid people".

And on the side of the truck? An wide open gas cover lid...and a gas cap, dangling from its cord and swinging merrily along in the wind.

Oh, irony. How can you not love it?

I couldn't decide whether to be amused or annoyed.

Yesterday I went to the grocery store.
Got all my groceries.
Got to the register, rang everything up.
Didn’t have my credit card.
Had taken it out the day previously and failed to return it to proper place.
Sweet hubby, who works five minutes down the road, was unavailable due to not answering his phone.
Dangit.
Had to leave groceries at said store with skeptical cashier.
Run home.
Get card.
Run back.
Pay.
It was awesome.
And not embarrassing at all.
Why do you ask?

Stream of Consciousness Blogging

I think all women should have a secret pair of really fabulous shoes that they break out every now and again. Mine are a pair of cherry red high heels. They make me feel fierce.

Why are we the only country (still) that doesn’t use the metric system? We need to get with the program. At work we have to save every single file twice - once in a U.S. paper size and once in the universal A4 paper size. Our 8 x 10 paper and printers aren't compatible, because ...wait for it...nobody else uses inches! (Insert Homer Simpson "doh!" head slap)

It weirds me out when someone refers to themselves in the third person, i.e. if I said “Sarah is losing her marbles today”.

My garden is delicious looking. Yes, delicious (that one's for you, Mom!). My basil is rocking. The strawberries died on me, but I’ve heard many people say that growing strawberries are hard, so I’m comforting myself with the thought that I'm not alone. I have three little green baby tomatoes and I’m so proud.

I love my husband lots and lots. He's been making me iced coffee in the morning while we're getting ready for work. And he doesn’t even like coffee. (Random trivia: Ron has never had a cup of coffee in his life!). Life is sweet.

I despise pickles on sandwiches. A dill pickle spear on the side of a deli sandwich? Cool, crisp, crunchy, perfect. Inside said sandwich? Ugh.

I'm thinking about the next travel adventure. Maybe next year. I'm thinking Spain. I've collectively spent almost six weeks in Spain at this point, and my mind pictures of my time in Spain go like this: sunshine. wine. paella. picasso. beach. breeze. red. matador. paella. vespa. sun. wine. paella. siesta. flower. sea. paella. Who wouldn't want to add to that list? Plus, Ron and I have been working on our Spanish for awhile - beautiful, sultry language, Spanish - and ought to put it to use. Right? Now I need to work on a plan.

Thanks for humoring my scatterbrained mind for a few minutes.

The end.
